He formerly was Associate Professor and Clinical and Academic director of the Department of Otolaryngology at Misr University for Science and Technology in Cairo-Egypt. He obtained his MD and PhD from Kumamoto University in Japan and did further clinical training in the United Kingdom where he became associate fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Being Rhinologist with special interest in airways allergy, he performed his Allergology fellowship at Bordeaux II University in Bordeaux-France. Professor El-Shazly research interest includes immune-molecular events in upper airway inflammation in which he has authored many international peer review publications as well as a specialized book in allergy and clinical immunology of Otolaryngology. He is a member of several international scientific societies. He is section editor and a member of the editorial board of some international medical journals.

Mohd Normani Zakaria is currently the Chairman of Academic Program and an Associate Professor of Audiology, School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). His research achievements have been further recognized in which he has been appointed as an Editorial Board Member of many internationally indexed journals and a reviewer for many indexed journals (a total of 160 reviewed manuscripts). To keep him further active, Prof. Zakaria has supervised over 150 research projects for doctorate, master’s and undergraduate degrees. He has also won gold and silver medal awards for his inventions in the field of neuro-otology. In year 2012, he established the first Malaysian Tinnitus Clinic that emphasizes on a multi-disciplinary approach between clinical professionals.
